On Tuesday, March 30, Rodrigo Riquelme, Partnership Coordinator of UC Davis Chile was invited to the program All You Need is LAB of Radio Usach and hosted by journalists Nadia Politis and Ivan Rimassa. 

During the interview Rodrigo talked about NASA's MAIA project, and the importance for the country to have the support of the authorities to implement it and learn more about how pollution affects those of us who live in Chile. 

On March 16, our Water Resources Coordinator, Pablo Silva, was interviewed on La Ciencia del Futuro, a program hosted by Daniel Silva of TXS radio. 

During the conversation Pablo shared about his work at UC Davis Chile on water resources, and about the Water information and modeling center CIMHi.

The Bioethics and Law Observatory of the Universidad del Desarrollo and UC Davis Chile Life Sciences Innovation Center have just opened registrations for the online course "New trends in Agro-Biotech, a look from intellectual property and technology transfer", which will be held from April 12 to 28, 2021.

As response to the challenges of 2020 and the need to give continuity to research and projects, at the end of last year, UC Davis Chile moved its laboratory equipment to the INIA Regional Research Center, La Platina, in La Pintana.  

The move, carried out thanks to the signing of a joint work agreement, seeks to contribute to the interaction between researchers and strengthening the work between the two organizations.

On Thursday, February 11 at 12:30 PST, the Webinar Sustainable management in Lake Tahoe: an inspiring experience for Chile's Northern Patagonian lakes will be held.

The European Plum Extension and Innovation Program, led by UC Davis Chile and PRUNOVA, which seeks to increase the productivity and quality of the orchards, successfully completed its first year of implementation.

In a new version of the Extension Talks UC Davis Chile, held on December 22, we had the opportunity to share with Helen Dahlke, associate professor at the department of Land, Air and Water Resources at UC Davis to talk about aquifer recharge. 

During the seminar we also had the presence of Federico Errázuriz, executive secretary of the National Irrigation Commission (CNR); Oscar Cristi, general director of water (DGA) and Jose Luis Arumi, professor of the UdeC, who was also moderator. 

The associative work has been key in the UC Davis Chile proposal since its beginnings. This has been reflected in different Center activities, however, one of the most relevant ending 2020 is the Consortium of Water Resources Management in the Central-South Macrozone of Chile, a proposal led by the University of Concepcion, and awarded in collaboration with the Institute of Agricultural Research (INIA) and the Universities of Chile, Católica, Bernardo O`Higgins and Diego Portales.

The economic losses caused by grapevine trunk diseases, was the central theme of the Extension Talk held on December 17, in which we had Jonathan Kaplan from UC Davis and Gerardo Leal, manager of viticulture at Santa Rita and Carmen´s vineyards. 

On Wednesday, December 9, 2020, the International Seminar on Technological Exploration was held virtually, an activity organized jointly by ExploraTec UDD, from the Universidad del Desarrollo and UC Davis Chile. This activity is framed in the collaboration agreement that both institutions are executing.

The activity, held on Monday, December 7, and organized together with PERFRUTS, included a presentation by Dr. Samuel Sandoval from UC Davis.

In this new version of the Extension Talks UC Davis Chile, held on December 3, Katherine Jarvis-Shean from UC Davis joined us to talk about nutritional management in walnuts.

Throughout 2020, our community at UC Davis has continued to innovate in global learning, finding solutions through research, and collaborating with communities, both locally and globally. In recognition of this work and the work throughout the university's history, we are proud to share that UC Davis has been recognized internationally and nationally for its global commitment.
