Reference genomes of Chilean wineyards: the science behind the vine

Celebrating the National Day of Wine, UC Davis Chile, center of international excellence funded by CORFO and dependent on the University of California Davis, in alliance with Universidad Andrés Bello (UNAB) and companies Víña Concha y Toro and VSPT Wine Group, announced important advances in the execution of the genetic identification project of grape clones of the most relevant varieties for the wine industry in Chile: Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Merlot and Pinot Noir.

First International Viticulture and Enology Seminar of Southern Chile

On Thursday, 16 November, the Viticulture and Enology Extension Center of Southern Chile (CEV del Sur) will hold the First International Viticulture and Enology Seminar of Southern Chile. The activity will include national speakers and extension specialists in viticulture from the Cooperative Extension System of the University of California, including the winner of the 2017 Extensionist Award presented by the American Society for Enology and Viticulture.

Climate Smart Agro Chile is an annual platform that exhibits science, technology and ventures with an impact on agro-climatic adaptation in Chile. It responds to the necessity of reducing the gap of know-how between supply and demand for solutions to the growing climate vulnerability of agricultural production. Its mission is to promote a technologically advanced, versatile and efficient agriculture facing the range of environments.

Experts from UC Davis give talk on irrigation at INIA La Platina and U. Talca

Doctors Daniele Zaccaria and Richard Snyder, UC Davis academics, will come to Chile for their line of work in Climate Change. On the occasion, they will offer the drought lecture "Towards next generation decision support for irrigation management" in two locations: on Tuesday, March 8th at INIA La Platina in Santiago and Friday, March 11th at the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences at the University of Talca.
