The research, developed by UC Davis Chile, contemplates the survey of the quality of different irrigation sources of more than 30 vineyards located between Huasco and Itata valleys.

The constant episodes of drought in recent years have not only reduced the amount of water available for the development of wine businesses in Chile but have also increased the concentrations of salts in water resources, affecting the development of vineyards and even the wine quality.

The context

The Comercialization and Technology Transfer Hub for the Americas, which will be held in Santiago, Chile, from August 27 to September 7, 2018, is a high-level training program aimed at entrepreneurs and technology transfer professionals. the Latin American region, interested in developing and bringing their innovative products and services "from the idea to the market"

Earlier this year, Markus Schreyer, creator and CEO of GaneshaLab SPA; Dushyant Pathak, Associate Vice Chancellor for Technology Management and Corporate Relations at UC Davis and Executive Director of its Venture Catalyst program; and Alan Bennett, Executive Director of UC Davis Chile, agreed, on behalf of their respective institutions, to collaborate in facilitating the movement of startup companies between Chile and California.  The goal of this collaboration is to provide new commercial opportunities to technology developers, to bring innovative technologies to Chile and California

UC Davis Chile and the University of Talca held the second version of the Climate Smart Agro, an annual platform which presents high impact science and technology for agro-climatic adaptation in Chile. This year the seminar was held on two dates and in two different cities: Tuesday 29 August in Talca and Thursday 31 August in Santiago.
