UC Davis wins recognition for diversity and internationalization

Throughout 2020, our community at UC Davis has continued to innovate in global learning, finding solutions through research, and collaborating with communities, both locally and globally. In recognition of this work and the work throughout the university's history, we are proud to share that UC Davis has been recognized internationally and nationally for its global commitment.

In November 2020, the University of California, Davis was the only U.S. university to be awarded the 2020 Platinum Award for Learning, Research and Global Institutional Engagement, the highest honor bestowed by the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU), recognizing UC Davis' last six years of efforts to promote comprehensive and inclusive strategies for global engagement, research and learning.

The international initiatives are fundamental for the UC Davis Strategic Plan "To Boldly Go", including the campus plan "Global Education for All", which aims to provide 100 percent of college students, graduates and professionals global learning opportunities that help them create a global awareness, explore world diversity and seek global action.

In addition to APLU's recognition, this year UC Davis shared first place among the top U.S. universities for diversity and internationalization, was also awarded the Simon Award for Integral Campus Internationalization, and was recognized as one of the best universities for training U.S. Fulbrighters, Gilman scholars and Peace Corps volunteers.

UC Davis' global commitment is impressive in that it brings together the contributions of a diversity of people, including students, faculty, researchers, administrative staff, alumni, supporters and partners from around the world. Through this spirit of global engagement, we see integral internationalization as a way to promote the global good in California and around the world.
