Strategic Food Program visits UC Davis Chile

Gonzalo Jordan, Chairman of CORFO´s Strategic Food Program (PEA); Graciela Urrutia, manager of PEA and Claudia Saavedra, executive of PEA, attended UC Davis Chile´s unit to present in detail the scope of this initiative. The PEA, like others Strategic Programs in mining, tourism, construction, creative industry, aquaculture and fishing, seek to generate a more productive and globally competitive industry through a more diversified and sophisticated economy. In the specific case of this food program, a modernized agricultural business with more added value.
Alan Bennett, Executive Director of UC Davis Chile, explained the center´s research lines to the representatives of PEA; these lines are strongly linked in their first stages to the needs of the wine industry. Dr. Bennett also commented on the vast potential of work in other areas: UC Davis College is Number 1 in the world in education and research in agriculture, forestry and veterinary science, according to the QS World University Rankings.
