UC Davis Chile changes office and relocates its laboratories
As response to the challenges of 2020 and the need to give continuity to research and projects, at the end of last year, UC Davis Chile moved its laboratory equipment to the INIA Regional Research Center, La Platina, in La Pintana.
The move, carried out thanks to the signing of a joint work agreement, seeks to contribute to the interaction between researchers and strengthening the work between the two organizations.
La Platina Regional Research Center is one of the 10 centers owned by the Chilean Agricultural Research Institute (INIA) and its mission is to generate, adapt and transfer knowledge and technologies for the sustainable development of the agricultural sector, especially of vegetables and fruit trees in the central zone of our country.
Along with research, one of the two basic functions of this Center is technology transfer, whose objective is to contribute to the competitiveness and social, economic and environmental sustainability of the rural sector, making available to professionals, technicians, farmers, authorities and general public, technology and knowledge developed by INIA to improve their production systems.
To Emilio Ruz, director of INIA's La Platina Regional Center, the transfer of research equipment from UC Davis Chile will enhance the work of applied research, thus promoting the development of national agriculture.
"INIA La Platina's laboratories are very well implemented and stand out nationally, mainly for their work in biotechnology and phytopathology. Therefore, having our equipment will undoubtedly benefit us, and in addition to allowing us to continue projects, it allows us to start new ones," said Álvaro Castro, Research and Development Coordinator at UC Davis Chile.
In addition to the change of laboratory equipment and due to the successful implementation of teleworking, UC Davis Chile moved its offices to Av. Santa María 2670, office 206, Providencia. In this way, a mixed work modality is being developed, for the correct continuity of all projects, while maintaining preventive measures to take care of each of the collaborators.
