In the 50 years of history between UC Davis and Chile, the educational institution of the State of California has made ties with many of the actors in the agricultural production and export chain of our country. Following the launch of UC Davis in Chile this 2015, one of the fundamental missions of this center of excellence is to reaffirm those ties and meet all the actors involved in this relevant and highly productive sector.


For this reason, last Wednesday, Maritrini Lapuente, CEO of the Association of Nurseries of Chile (AGV) and Margarita Torres, Executive of Commerce of this entity, visited UC Davis Chile to hold a meeting on the possible collaborations between these two institutions.

Founded in 1999, the AGV currently has 43 members who hold an estimated 90% of the fruit plant production, 80% of vegetable seedlings and 100% of protected varieties production. A few of the objectives of this organization are to position Chile among the top countries producing power plants and quality seedlings for the domestic market and export platform, and to promote continuous improvement by unifying an activity criteria of efficiency sustainability and profitability, incorporating new technologies and business alternatives.
