Bio

Juan Ladrón de Guevara is a natural resources economist. He graduated as an agronomist engineer with a mention in economics from the University of Chile and obtained an MBA from Maastricht University in the Netherlands. He started his professional career at the Chilean Ministry of Environment in 1997, designing the first generation of policy instruments to manage pollution.  Afterward, he held many management positions in Government, mainly in the Chilean Ministry of Economy, where he founded the Agency for Sustainable Development and Climate Change (2016). 

 Before joining the UC Davis Chile Life Sciences Innovation Center, he led several projects that advanced the relationship between the government and mining companies in Chile, including TECK, where he was the Manager of Government Affairs. 

 Ladrón de Guevara serves on the WWF Chile Council, where he provides advice on economics and governance. 

 As General Manager at UC Davis Chile, Ladrón de Guevara evaluates and advances center operations and business units, manages institutional relationships with Chilean partners, and collaborates with the professional team to develop strategies and new initiatives that ensure the center’s financial security and sustainability. 

 Juan is an avid cyclist and mechanic who enjoys both Davis and Santiago bike lines.
